Volutes and turnouts

Volutes and turnouts are used in over-the-post staircases. They are a more decorative way to start a run of railing.

We offer volutes and turnouts to match most of our railing profiles, and also in a variety of wood species.

For our more decorative volutes - Left Hand #30 and Right Hand #35 - are 5-1/8" from the center of newel to the center of the handrail, except for the 70 & 76 series, which are 4-7/8" from the center of newel to the center of the handrail. These are typically used with a starting step.

We offer 2 varieties of our turnouts. Our Left Hand #40 and our Right Hand # 45 are 4-7/8" from center of newel to the center of handrail, while the Left Hand #41 and Right Hand #46 are 2-7/8" from center of newel to center of handrail.

For a run of railing that's sure to please, you need to start with these fittings!
